The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Sabancı University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Gender Studies. Rank of appointment is open. Candidates must have completed their PhD by the time of the application in any of the following (or related) fields: Comparative Literature, Sociology, Political Science, Film and Media Studies, Anthropology.
We seek a scholar with a strong theoretical grounding in gender theory, and an active, interdisciplinary research agenda that crosscuts one or more of the following areas: 
biopolitics, sexuality and queer studies, critical race theory, literary theory, law and society, performance studies, religion, and science and technology studies. 
The successful candidate should have an excellent publication record and demonstrate the ability to teach in an English language academic environment; speak across  disciplinary boundaries to more firmly anchor gender studies in emerging configurations of knowledge in the academy; and have innovative research agendas that will inform the future of the field. Applicants are expected to teach in the Cultural Studies BA and MA programs as well as the new Gender and Women’s Studies PhD program planned to start in Fall 2016. They are also expected to contribute to the projects and activities of the Center of Excellence for Gender and Women’s Studies.

Project Coordinator Position at the Sabancı University Center of Excellence for Gender and Women's Studies

For a gender awareness project implemented by the Gender and Women’s Studies Center of Sabancı University, a full time Project Coordinator will be hired with a one year contract, with the possibility of extension. The Project Coordinator will be stationed at the Center's office in the Tuzla Campus of Sabancı University. 


•a BA degree in the humanities or the social sciences, preferably including significant exposure to gender and women's studies

•preferably an MA degree with a gender focus

•at least three years of experience in the relevant area  

•excellent command of English and Turkish, with good oral and written communication skills

•experience in project design and implementation

•interest in promoting gender awareness in the education system

•experience in active cooperation with NGOs

Job Description:

The project coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Purple Certificate Program for raising the gender awareness of high school teachers and university students. 

Responsibilities include:

•communicating with and enabling coordination among the stakeholders of the project, including the Ministry of Education, Sabancı Foundation, high schools, academicians, NGOs, and other gender initiatives

•managing all related activities in the provinces involved in the program 

•collecting and analyzing related statistical data and preparing regular reports

•preparing newsletters, e-bulletins and content of website

•participating in the staff meetings and project-related activities of the Gender and Women’s Studies Center

Some travel and working at weekends is required. 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and health insurance is included.
